The book of Psalms, which is “Tehillim” in Hebrews, meaning “ songs of praise”. But the English word Psalms was derived from the Greek word “Psalmoi” meaning “Songs” or “sound of harp”.As you can see, from the meaning of the word “Psalm” which is the “songs of phrase”, it’s all about acknowledging God, with a total surrender and dependant on, in all times and all kind of seasons.
David was in this very bible verse revealing where the source of his light is coming from, meaning he was in a total dependant in the Lords direction and protection of the Lord as his light and his salvation.
When God is not your light and your Salvation, it only means one thing; your life will be to be moving in the dark, without seeing the danger that’s ahead, without knowing the right step to take, nor the right direction to follow, or even moving without the lord who is above all, to guide and direct your part, as salvation comes from God alone.
God must be the only source we draw our strength from! In other to overcome, the challenge’s that threatens our day to day life.We saw how the patriarchs and the prophets overcame the ploys of the devil, not because they were by themselves all powerful, NO!. But because they all had this very understanding that without the Lord as their Light and their salvation, they would be defeated in life.

For the Lord to be your Light and Salvation means the Lord is with you or in other words, He is on your side that is to say He guides and directs your parts and you cannot go wrong. Or just look at it this way, “you are a car, He is the driver” as we are his temple.

The Light Of God As A Guardian
(Mathew 5:14-16)“14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house” Mathew 5:14-16 kjv.Jesus here is revealing to us the Territorial advantage we have over those that are not in Christ and walking in darkness.
We as the light of the world, draws our radians and source of light from him. So this scriptures matches well with the headline of this article.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; who shall I fear? The lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 kjv.It was this very Psalms that reveals our source of light.
If we are suppose to be the light of the world, then in other for us to be relevant and effective, we must be connected to the source of our light, or else we would be walking in total darkness, without the light that shineth the path of a man brighter than the day light.

What happens when you are in a dark room, it’s often hard to see or even one can’t see anything at all, but what happens when you turn on the light, it makes you see clearly and the position of everything which is sight, and then you can go the door or reach to whatever you want which is only possible with the lights on, which signifies direction.
The Light Of God As A Source Of Hope
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven”. Mathew 5:16 kjv. In the 14 verse of (Mathew 5) it clearly states that you are like a city set on a hill which cannot be hidden.
This means that the light of God in you cannot be hidden but to be made manifest in every possible way which is through your works and the attributes you display as a Christian.Just like no matter the small amount of light, it penetrates every darkness, so our Christian attributes when seen through our works shines the world and brings glory to our father who at in heaven.
Seeing you shine the light of God, it will give others the hope, courage and a reason to walk in the light just like you. And your life would be a model for them to build to follow, making you an ambassador of heaven.
The Story of the three wise men and king Herod seeking the new born king Jesus should intrigue you of what the phrase “the Lord is my light and my salvation” really means.God shines his light on the three wise men from the revelation of the birth of the long-awaited Messiah, to the decision to find and honor him, to the stars (from heaven by God) to go before them to lead and direct them, until they found the new born King. As you can see, it was easy for them finding him.
What about King Herod with all his powers, all his influence, all his magicians, all the strict measures, and terrible decisions he took, which include killing new born male children of a certain rage of age, he still couldn’t reach Jesus.
This is just an illustration of the end result of those that walk in the light of God, and those who walk in the dark.The end result of your works is the light which shine’s, attracting and giving hope to others, making them want to be fellow partakers of the Light with you.
That is exactly what God expect from men walking in darkness to see, when the look at us as men and women walking as the light of the World, to look at the light in us as light walkers and retrieve back their steps.Therefore no matter the distress, discouragements, you might be faced with. You must allow yourself to be a beacon of hope.So that people that are lost on their way should be able to look at you and follow the radiance of light that shines through you; and be able to retrieve back their steps back to the light of God.
The Light of God as protection:“For I, saith the Lord will be unto her wall of fire round about, and would be the glory in the midst of her.” Zechariah 2:5 kjv.When you are surrounded by the light of God, nothing on earth can harm you even in even trials or distress etc. for all things happens for good to all those who serve the Lord.
Just as he serve like a cloud in the day and a pillar of fire in the night while they journeyed through the wilderness.When the light of God protects you, it makes you free from the dangers of diving headlong into damnation. Because it saves’ you by showing you the right part to trail and no weapon fashion against you shall prosper.

What is salvation?
Salvation is being saved from something that could be a sort of danger, a distress situation or sin.
What can Salvation do for you?
Salvation saves you from being a slave to sin.“16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17. For God sent not his son into he world to condemn the word, but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 kjv.
The above scriptures, gives us a clear picture of what salvation is all about. It is God himself coming in the flesh to deliver the soul of men from falling headlong into hell. And the only way this work for you is when you believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, died and resurrected on the 3rd day.
“10. That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 11. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed’ Romans 10:9-10“14. And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiving you all trespasses. 14. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” Colossians 2:14-16 KJV.Jesus Christ is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6)

“Wherefore my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out you salvation with fear and trembling” Philippians 1:12 kjv.
This scripture admonishes us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ should not be an excuse for us to continue to dwell in sin.
“1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans 6:1-2 kjv.
Rather his death should reconcile us back to God; that we may be able to communicate directly with without any hindrance, but we must be responsible for our actions and decisions.God expects you to be mindful of the steps you take, and in other for you to be successful in working out your salvation, you must approach it with fear and trembling. You must depend on Christ alone and His finished work on the cross to help you take away any negative traits in you, trying to pull you away from God.
You don’t have the capacity to help yourself.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.” John 15:5 kjv.
If you desire inner peace, come to Jesus Christ today and dwell in the ocean of the peace of mind.

Colossians 1:13 “who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath transited us into the kingdom of his dear son.”Many believers are already in Christ and saved, but they keep allowing evil whispers to keep suggesting things to them, like; Am I already saved? Despite the terrible sins I’ve committed in my life, I don’t think God can forgive a murderer, terrorist, homosexual, adulterer, fornicator or someone that has committed various manners of sin in the past.
“if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”John 8:36 Kjv.
Whoever the Son, has set free, is free indeed. Once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and personal savior and hold on to him steadfastly, nothing can take you to the path of hell again.As long as you keep working on your salvation with fear and trembling, you are free indeed.

“14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched by feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like we are yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15-16 kjv.
This scripture encourages all believers that they are right standing with Christ to come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find help in the times of need.God is not mad at you as most people always feel. No sin is too big to be forgiven, but make sure you don’t go back to the sin again.
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”(2 Peter 2:20-22)
Just having the knowledge of been with Jesus alone is enough to help you face adversity and trials, for you know the big God behind you. And he has never lost a battle.

No prayerful person ever becomes a prey! You must always pray and ask God to help you stand in the midst of adversity. Also pray for grace to remain faithful to God, as he is to you.Always reflect and study on God’s word, to gain guidance and direction in all you endeavors.

Be a witness of the light
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 kjv.
The life you live will compel others to want to know the God you serve. So, don’t keep the benefits you are enjoying in Christ to yourself alone. The gospel is to be taught to all, not to be kept or sold!
“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.” 2 Timothy 1:8 kjv.
It was the live, lived by the apostle as in “Acts of the apostles” that attracted the daily increase to occur. Acts 2, 3, and 4They shared what they had, helped the needy by making sure; there is always shelter something to eat, drink and wear.
