Sinach Biography

Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu, popularly known as Sinach, was born on March 30, 1972, in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. An award-winning gospel singer, songwriter, and senior worship leader, Sinach has made significant contributions to contemporary gospel music over the past three decades. She is recognized as a trailblazer in the industry, having topped various music charts, including the Billboard Christian Songwriter chart, where she became the first African artist to hold the position. With numerous accolades to her name, including the prestigious Dove Award for Song of the Year, Sinach continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her uplifting music and powerful lyrics.

Career

Sinach began her musical journey in 1989, singing for family and friends as a hobby while serving as a staff and choir member at Christ Embassy, under the leadership of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. Although she had dreams of singing to large crowds, she initially focused on her administrative role within the church and did not pursue a music career actively until later.

Her songwriting talent began to shine as she penned numerous songs, leading to the release of her first studio album, Chapter One, in 2008.
